| Richmond man arrested in crash that killed friend A Town of Richmond man has been arrested and may be criminally charged in a one-vehicle crash that killed one of his passengers.
The roll-over accident that occurred July 14 at about 6 p.m. took the life of Brandon P. Jeters, 19, of Delavan, who was pronounced dead of severe head injuries at the scene along Timber Trail.
The driver of the pickup truck, Edward M. Meyer, 23, of Lake Lorraine Road in the Town of Richmond, was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of the negligent operation of a vehicle, according to the Walworth County Sheriff's Department.
Cash bond was set at $10,000, and Meyer is scheduled to appear in court again Thursday.
A second passenger in the truck, Karly R. Kingston, 19, of Whitewater, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.
According to court records, Meyer was sentenced to three years in prison in 2007 after his probation was revoked in a 2006 case in which he was convicted of burglary and sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation.
A benefit to raise funds for Jeters' family was held Saturday night at Pirate's Cove Bar and Grill, and a memorial fund has been set up at Community Bank. Donations to the Brandon Jeters Memorial Fund can be made at Community Bank branches in Delavan, Sharon, Lake Geneva and Clinton.
