The Whitewater Art's Alliance is hosting its first Fran Achen Photograph Invitational Show from Aug. 1 to Sept. 2.
The event will feature Archen's work as well as that of local photographers.
Achen was a longtime Whitewater resident, teacher and local photographer. He is best remembered as Whitewater's photographic historian.
In the 1980s, Achen donated nearly 400 custom printed and mounted photographs to the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library. The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater also has an extensive collection of his photos.
The Alliance is currently looking for photographers to submit their work for the exhibit. The photographs can be from professional photographers or amateurs.
Entry categories and fees are as follows:
Ages 1-12: $1 fee per entry
Ages 13-18: $3 fee per entry
Ages 19-Up: $5 fee per entry
Photograph submissions must be framed, ready to hang with wire and delivered to Cultural Art Center, 402 West Main St., on July 25 from noon to 4 p.m.
