FA is based on the 12-step recovery program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Meetings focus on helping the family, not the drug abuser. Members include parents of chronic truants, runaways, drug and alcohol users, and social dropouts of all ages.
Members use first names only to preserve anonymity. Meetings begin with the basic FA readings, and are followed by discussion of a topic chosen by the leader for the evening. Guests should enter the church from West Geneva Street.
