| 7/9/2010 3:10:00 PM | Email this article Print this article | Art in the Park set for Aug. 14, 15 Annual festival celebrates 30th anniversary The Geneva Lake Art Association will hold it's 30th annual Art in the Park exhibit from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15 in Flat Iron Park in downtown Lake Geneva.
More than 80 artists from throughout the United States will display on the lakefront. A complete list of participating artists is available on the GLAA website at www.genevalakeart.org.
This year's event will feature a silent auction. Sixty-four exhibitors have donated to the silent auction - 32 pieces of artwork will be shown and auctioned on Saturday and an additional 32 pieces will be auctioned on Sunday.
A selection of the donated items includes:
sterling silver pendant set with Citrine, Fossil Walrus Ivory and Peruvian Blue Opal valued at $98 donated by artists Carmel and Michael Schramm;
limited edition giclee print measuring 20- by 24-inches titled "Montalcino" valued at $98 donated by artist Richard Helland;
parlour candlestick valued at $79 donated by artists Thomas and Patricia Hooper;
Oriental lantern earrings valued at $55 donated by artist Kanchana Nerato;
fun fish wood sculpture valued at $50 donated by artist Terry Hunt;
a 24- by 30-inch photograph titled "Chianti Valley" a $90 value donated by artist Vivian Baumgartner;
Tanjie horse silk embroidered picture valued at $35 donated by artist Jie Tan;
original watercolor paintings on canvas donated by artist Peggy Furlin;
photograph "Jubilation" donated by artist Carol Koetke;
pottery valued at $50 donated by artist Mary Howe.
Founded in 1947, the Geneva Lakes Art Association's goal is to foster a community appreciation of the fine arts through the arrangement of shows, monthly programs, lectures, demonstrations and workshops. The organization is well known for its annual Art In The Park art fair and Lake Geneva Paint In. Membership is open to anyone interested in the arts.
The GLAA gallery is located in the North Shore Pavilion at 647 Main St. in downtown Lake Geneva. Hours of operation are Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m. June through August the gallery is also open Fridays from 1-4 p.m.
